Women podium in South and North East!
The main staple of the Southeastern region's early racing season is always the Greenville Training Series. Three consecutive weekends of racing offer riders the chance to shake out the winter blahs and get ready for the road racing season. BMW-Bianchi sent a small contingent to the most recent edition of the training series, with Jen Petosa placing fifth from a late race breakaway at the Fork Shoals Road Race on Saturday, March 1st. On Sunday, March 2nd Deb Whitmore barely missed the top podium position to take 2nd in the Donaldson Center Road Race, with Christy Blakely not far behind in 5th.
Meanwhile, Cara McCauley tested her off-road skills at the final installation of the Snake Creek Gap Time Trial in Dalton, GA, taking third place in the 17 mile category.
Junior national road race champion Lauren Shirock won her first collegiate race at the Rutgers Circuit Race on Sunday, March 2nd.
In Multi-sport news, Amy Slater "showed up" for the Inside Out Sports 4 City Duathlon: Charlotte and came away with the overall women's win. Tina Weiler was not far behind in 3rd overall.
This weekend, look for the women to continue to represent at the final installation of this year's Greenville Training Series, as well as at the Spring Forward 40k Time Trial in Knoxville, TN.
