Team Drives for the Cure

Four members of BMW-Bianchi Elite Women’s Cyclo-cross and Road team arrived at Hendrick BMW in Charlotte, NC on Thursday, December 4, 2008 to take part in the Susan G. Komen Drive for the Cure.  The Hendrick BMW dealership showcased the new 2009 BMW models, each in brilliant white with the Susan G. Komen Foundation pink ribbon logo prominently displayed.  Participants eager to get behind the wheel of their favorite model lined up to test drive on the 10 mile city course. 

This event was one of many across NC and beyond; BMW North America’s partnership with Susan G. Komen for the Cure raised one dollar for every mile driven.  Dealerships hosted the fleet of new 2009 models for enthusiasts to test drive, raising more than $11 million as well as awareness in support of innovations for cancer research since 1997.   

The Electric Blue 2008 X3 team car was a perfect backdrop for the group shot, which featured Evie Boswell-Vilt, Cara Applegate, Christy Blakely, and Deb Sweeney Whitmore along with VP and General manager of Hendrick BMW John Desmond and a 2009 Bianchi Full-Carbon Cross Concept.

The crisp weather did not deter Whitmore and Applegate from taking a turn behind the wheel of a new 6 series convertible, after entertaining the talk radio host, Stacie Simms and crew, of News-Talk WBT with their bulls-eye throwing technique!
