Schedule
Racing Continues in January

The weekend of January 24th and 25th the team sent riders to both the Southern Cross cyclo-cross race in Ellijay, GA as well as the Cross-a-nooga Cyclo-Cross races in Chattanooga, TN.

The Saturday and Sunday races in Chattanooga had a small turn out of women, chilly weather and a power surging course containing numerous sets of tight corners, with steep pitches to overcome. Deb Whitmore fought valiantly to stay on the wheel of Vantaggio-Specialized's Kim Flynn who eventually rode away with the win both Saturday and Sunday, leaving Whitmore to secure second place both days.

Meanwhile, on Saturday the 24th, Cara Applegate represented the team by riding the mountain bike tandem with her husband in Southern Cross, the longest cyclo-cross race in the Southeast. Racers began the race in cold rain with a lap of a cyclo-cross course at Mulberry Gap Mountain Bike Getaway, then continued to ride about 36 miles of fire roads in varying states of muddiness in the Chattahoochee Forest before returning to the resort for one final lap before the finish. The Applegates conquered more than an hour long climb and overcame late race mechanicals to firmly secure the win in the Tandem category.

Look for the team next at the Winter Bike League training ride in Athens, GA next weekend, followed by the Greenville Spring Series in Greenville, SC, beginning February 21-22!
