BMW-Bianchi revs up for the 2009 season

The BMW-Bianchi team has two new weapons in it's arsenal, and they've come out for the 2009 season with guns a'blazing! Welcome Kirsten Davis and Dana Martin, two fantastic riders from Atlanta, Georgia. This pair of powerful riders have already shown they can bring in the results against the best: Kirsten took third both days of the Tour de Tuscaloosa last weekend behind professionals Rebecca Larson and Erica Allar, while Dana finished fifth in the road race.

These results bolster the already solid performances of BMW-Bianchi veterans Deb Whitmore, who took second overall in the Greenville Training Series, and Christy Blakely, who placed second in the City Park Criterium in Salisbury, sixth in the prior day's Uwharrie road race, and eighth in Tuscaloosa.

Also back and blazing with great early season form is Cora Olson, who narrowly missed out on second place at the River Falls road race, and took revenge in the next day's criterium at the BMW Performance Center in Greer, South Carolina. Cora made the two-woman breakaway and was keen to take the victory in front of our sponsor, but was out-gunned in the sprint by fellow Virginian Rachel Warner.

Newcomer Evie Boswell-Vilt is also showing solid form in her first full season in the open ranks, and racked up three top ten finishes so far this season.

We must not forget our multi-sport crew who have been putting in fine performances in the regional duathlon circuit. Tina Weiler placed second overall in the Charlotte Long Course duathlon in February, and Janet Edgerton took 13th overall and first in her age group at the Cary Long Course Du in March.

The team will head this weekend to Rock Hill, South Carolina for a bit of a dry run practice for the upcoming week of NRC madness, Speed Week, which kicks off April 27 with the Athens Twilight Criterium.

Our team, our fitness and our sponsors are the best we've had yet, and many, many thanks goes out to all of our generous supporters! BMW, Bianchi, Hutchinson, Rudy Project, SRAM, Fluid, MotorTabs, Skins, Thomson, Hudz, DeFeet and last but not least, our faithful club, the Capital Cycling Club.
